    Obituary 23 Aug 2014
Semon Vincent was born on August 4, 1930, in Brooklyn, New York to Francis and Abe. His twin brother, David, died at 18 months old. Semon grew up in Greenwich Village, New York as the only child of a single mother with the support of 3 aunts and 2 uncles. He was accepted to Stuyvesant Honors High School, graduated in 3 years, and then completed his engineering degree at the Polytechnic Institute in Brooklyn (Now the NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering). Additionally, he earned a masters degree from both USC and UCLA. Semon sailed with the Merchant Marines for 3 summers, during which time he celebrated his 18th birthday in Ireland. Semon also served in the US Army and Army Reserve for 7 years. He later worked as an aerospace engineer for 42 years, the last 30 of which were with TRW (Now Northrop Grumman).

Semon and Dixie dated for 7 months before he married his bride in Beverly Hills on March 3, 1954. They were married 59 and a half years. Found among his effects were 60 year old love letters from Dixie. They have two children, Tracy and Bruce, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Semon created an exceptionally warm, loving home with Dixie as a faithful, dependable husband and father, committed to Christ and serving in the church in various capacities over the years. A capable, thinking man, he was known for his sharp analytical skills and his many graphs and charts. He was a loyal son and son-in-law, well loved by everyone, and known for his warm smile and gentle spirit. Semon always made time to help his children and grandchildren in whatever way he could; he was a generous and patient mentor. He had a lifelong passion for missions, and supported various mission efforts throughout the world. He loved travel and was particularly gifted at planning trips, hauling heavy suitcases, and navigating foreign roads, train stations, and bus systems.

A passionate patriot, Semon invested much time and energy into supporting political candidates, promoting petitions and providing information for voters about proposed legislation. Among his possessions was this quote by Ronald Reagan,"Freedom is a fragile thing and is never more than one generation away from extinction. It is not ours by inheritance; it must be fought for and defended constantly by each generation, for it comes only once to a people. Those who have known freedom, and then lost it, have never known it again." Having been raised in Brooklyn, Semon was an avid Dodgers fan. Once in LA, he became a Rams enthusiast, until they moved to St. Louis. After making the move to Orange County, he became an Angels fan.

Nothing made Semon happier than the many occasions he spent with his family and dear friends: listening, laughing, and sharing meals together. Although he is greatly missed now, we celebrate that because of Jesus, we will spend eternity with him in Heaven.
